I.C.S. model provides practical experience while studying

Nine students at Landshut University of Applied Sciences from the Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Industrial Engineering faculties are commencing their practical semester based on the dual I.C.S. model.

By the end of their studies, they will have gained valuable experience with companies which will help as they start their careers. On 26 July 2018, before the first practical phase began, they met with representatives of the faculties, businesses and I.C.S. e.V. for a kick-off event at the university. At the event the participants discussed their expectations with Maria Beyer and Lena Weigel from I.C.S. e.V. They talked about what students, companies and the I.C.S. organisation can do to ensure that the model is successful for everyone involved.

From August the students will alternate between theoretical and practical phases until the completion of their Bachelor's degree. They spend the practical phases at partner companies and gain valuable experience of operational processes. During the theoretical phases they study at Landshut University of Applied Sciences as normal. They receive monthly remuneration from their companies across the whole three semesters.

Landshut University of Applied Sciences has been offering dual study programmes on the I.C.S. model for career entry since 2014. This year grant agreements have been awarded by partner firms Agrolab GmbH, ASIS GmbH, LR Intralogistik GmbH, OpenText Software GmbH, Stadtwerke Landshut (a local municipal body), Tekaris GmbH and xpecto AG. The application process takes place each year at the start of the summer semester in partnership with I.C.S. e.V.

Since it was founded in 1999, International Co-operative Studies (I.C.S.) e.V., a non-profit organisation, has been successfully bringing together students, companies and universities as part of dual study programmes based on the I.C.S. model. It acts as the central coordinating body.
