Study and gain practical experience at the same time

Students of Landshut University of Applied Sciences get started with dual programme

For all who would like to combine theory and practice while still studying, a dual programme is the ideal choice. Seven students of the Computer Science faculty have chosen this path in the summer of 2019 and are now embarking on the dual I.C.S. model from the second half of their course. The President of Landshut University of Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Karl Stoffel is delighted with the keen interest shown: “For the students, the dual model is an excellent opportunity to use what they have learned immediately in a practical environment, acquire important skills for their future career and as a result improve their career and employment prospects.” Cooperation with I.C.S. and partner companies

After their last exams, the students attended their first joint meeting with the dean of the Computer Science faculty, Prof. Dr. Dieter Nazareth, their partner companies and representatives of the non-profit organisation I.C.S. In a workshop the participants discussed their expectations for the next semester. The students compared the time ahead with a journey upon which they will actively shape their path in the model together with their partner companies and in doing so gain a wide variety of experience. During the time when lectures are taking place they will continue to acquire technical knowledge as normal at their university. In the lecture-free period they will develop their personal and professional skills in a business environment. After they have finished their studies, they will already know their work colleagues and what tasks and issues await them at the start of their career. This year the partner companies Agrolab GmbH, GAB Enterprise IT Solutions GmbH, OpenText Software GmbH, Tekaris GmbH and xpecto AG have awarded development contracts. Dual model possible for almost all courses

At the Landshut University of Applied Sciences almost all courses are available in the dual model. During their studies, students spend time doing an apprenticeship or additional time gaining practical experience in a company. The I.C.S. model starts as a special model in the third semester. The Computer Sciences faculty has offered its students the dual programme in the I.C.S. model to facilitate their entry into working life since 2014. The application process takes place every year at the start of the summer semester in cooperation with I.C.S.
