Normally, all students in Germany are required to have health insurance.

Learn moreInsurance during the internship semester
If an internship (=practical time in a company) is prescribed during the degree programme and the student receives remuneration, they are not subject to compulsory insurance - regardless of the amount of remuneration or the duration of work. Non-mandatory internships, on the other hand, fall under the same regulations as jobs if they last longer than two months.
