    Programme content

On the Bachelor's degree programme in Civil Engineering, you will learn the technical foundations and skills for the design, planning, construction, building and operation of structures in building construction, transport infrastructure, civil engineering and hydraulic engineering. You will acquire the skills and knowledge to be able to design the built environment safely and economically, but also in a sustainable and resource-saving manner in your future career. In addition to traditional methods, digital methods are covered, which are also becoming increasingly important in civil engineering.

    Study programme

The degree programme extends over seven semesters, including an internship semester in the fifth semester. The first semesters mainly cover the basics of civil engineering, such as mathematics, mechanics, structural design and building materials science, which are then expanded in the following semesters to include the technical basics of the main fields of civil engineering, such as hydraulic engineering, traffic route construction, construction management, solid construction, steel construction and timber construction. Exercises, internships and excursions are offered on an ongoing basis to strengthen the practical relevance of the programme. Practical training, an integral part of the degree programme, takes place in construction companies, engineering offices and construction administration, accompanied by practice-oriented courses.

The part-time programme doubles the number of semesters and thus creates the freedom to combine studies, family and career. This is also supported by childcare facilities in the CampusNest. Our aim is to offer a challenging but well thought-out civil engineering degree programme that emphasises studyability.

    Module overview

The module overview in the academic program provides a graphical representation of the course content over the seven semesters, including a chronological arrangement and distribution of ECTS credits.

    Internship and pre-study work experience

The faculty attaches particular importance to practical teaching content and emphasises the implementation of project work, engineering internships and practical semesters. The final thesis is usually written in a company, which gives students the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge directly in industrial practice. The pre-study work placement, which takes place before the regular course of study, provides a wide range of insights into various branches of industry and makes a significant contribution to academic development by deepening students' practical understanding.
