Master
The Master's degree programme in Business Information Systems systematically builds bridges between the different disciplines of computer science, business administration and business information systems as well as other fundamentals (e.g. from the field of mathematics) in accordance with the framework recommendation of the German Informatics Society (for education in business information systems at universities) and teaches the skills required for this. On the basis of a demanding Bachelor's degree in (business) informatics or business administration with an IT focus or an equivalent course of study, the practice-oriented teaching of methods for cross-system holistic thinking and working in the age of digitalisation, in particular for the development of information systems in business, administration and the private sector, which are a basic prerequisite for the increasing digitalisation of the economy and society.

Programme content
The four specific modules of the "Production and Logistics" specialisation are "Production and Logistics", "Process Simulation", "Collaborative Business Process Management" and "IT Project Management".
The four specific modules of the "Services and Administration" specialisation are "Service Management and Value Creation Networks", "E-Government", "Data Science" and "IT Consulting".
Each specialisation is supplemented by two FWP modules (10 ECTS credits in total), whereby one module must come from the field of "Business Informatics in the narrower sense". The second FWP module can be taken from the "Business Administration" module group or the "Computer Science" module group, whereby the examination board ensures that students with a strong background in computer science choose a BW module and students from more business-oriented degree programmes choose an IF module.
The Master's thesis (30 ECTS credits), which takes six months to complete and the results of which are presented in a colloquium, is due in the third semester.
Study programme
Students must acquire a total of 90 credit points (ECTS points). 15 ECTS points are allocated to the three core subjects "Methodology of Applied Sciences", "Strategic Management and Corporate Leadership" and "Management Support Systems". In addition, active participation in a two-semester study project (10 ECTS credits) and participation in two seminars (5 ECTS credits in total) are compulsory.
Students can choose between the two specialisations "Production and Logistics" and "Services and Administration" (20 ECTS credits each) to tailor their studies.
