The aim of the undergraduate Bachelor's degree programme in Social Work in Child and Youth Welfare is to enable students to act independently and professionally in various fields of social work practice - in particular in the fields of child and youth welfare - on the basis of scientific theories and well-founded methods of action.

    Study programme

    In the first and second semesters, basic theories and practical skills as well as social science research methods and legal principles are taught.

    From the third semester onwards, students specialise in the field of child and youth welfare. In particular, students are qualified to work in outpatient, day-care and inpatient forms of child and youth welfare as well as in the field of open youth work and family support.

    The fourth semester includes a practical semester , during which students are required to complete a 22-week compulsory internship in the field of child and youth welfare.

    Das Studium „Soziale Arbeit in der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe“ ist gegliedert in ein Grundlagenstudium, welches man in den ersten zwei Semestern durchläuft. Zu den vermittelten Kenntnissen gehören unter anderem Theorien- und Methodenwissen, die Vermittlung von Handlungskompetenzen und rechtlichen Grundlagen sowie das Erlernen wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens. Ab dem dritten Semester findet eine Vertiefung in die Themengebiete der Sozialen Arbeit in der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe statt.
