DAAD insurance for Germans abroad

For interns, students, academics and their partners and children and members of German universities who

  • receive funding from DAAD programmes (e.g. PROMOS) or
  • receive funding from European Union programmes (e.g. ERASMUS+) or
  • are placed and supervised by a member university or partner organisation of the DAAD

have the opportunity to participate in a group insurance programme with attractive conditions, which includes health insurance, personal liability and accident insurance and covers benefits that are often excluded from private insurance policies. More information here.

Private (supplementary) insurance abroad

There are numerous providers of supplementary international insurance, international health insurance and special international insurance for students on a semester or internship abroad.

The fees are often very different. It almost always states: outpatient treatment by a doctor, medically prescribed medication, pain-relieving dental treatment, medically prescribed aids following an accident, etc. are covered. However, there are big differences in the small print. We therefore urge you to find out about the benefit limits and exclusions!
