International networking and cooperation are becoming increasingly important for businesses. In order to introduce students at Landshut University of Applied Sciences to this specific topic, Prof. Christian Seel organises a “Collaborative Business Process Management” event each year in conjunction with Bournemouth University in the UK. During the event, Master’s students from the Computer Science faculty learn about planning and implementing cross-company business processes.
Throughout the winter semester, three teams of students at Landshut each worked on a case study. In it they ran through cross-company business processes – from negotiating a contract with all its requirements and framework conditions through to implementation using software. Each team is assigned an English partner team at the cooperating university in Bournemouth. That team plays the role of a UK company, for example an automotive manufacturer who wants to outsource some of its processes to a German manufacturer of special seats. With the help of this project, the students learn to better evaluate the special features of cross-company business processes. They can also practise working together in an international team.
At the end of the exercise, Seel presented certificates to the Landshut students from Bournemouth University, confirming their successful participation in the project. In return, their English fellow students received certificates from Landshut University of Applied Sciences.
