New VR headsets for the Landshut University of Applied Sciences

Donation from ebm-papst Landshut could soon turn VR excursions in the lecture theatre into reality

In mid-April, the medical technology research group at the Landshut University of Applied Sciences received a visit from ebm-papst Landshut. They brought with them a donation of 45 Cardboard VR headsets, which were gratefully received by Prof. Stefanie Remmele and Prof. Christopher Auer. Currently, the two professors from the faculties of Electrical and Industrial Engineering and Computer Science are overseeing several student projects on virtual and augmented reality.

Among other things, there is a student project in the Bachelor of Computer Science course which aims to develop a VR excursion into medical rooms. It is also intended to investigate the extent to which the application can be provided in the next step via a browser. In combination with the large number of headsets, this would allow VR excursions in the lecture theatre.

The results of all study projects will be presented to the external project partners at a joint final event of the medical technology research group on 29 June.
