Since the winter semester 2020/21, the universities of Augsburg, Kempten and Landshut have been jointly offering a consecutive Master's degree course in Human Resource Management, which is characterised by its scientific foundation and high practical orientation. This Master's programme is based on the concept of the cooperation between the universities of Augsburg, Landshut and Munich, which ran from 2010 to 2020.

    The study programme / profile

    The aim of this Master's degree programme is to professionalise personnel management in order to prepare graduates to take on a high-quality specialist or management position in the personnel sector. Courses (face-to-face and online) are held weekly from Monday to Thursday in a centralised location in Augsburg.

    In terms of content, the Master's programme covers the entire spectrum of HR work - from the strategic orientation of HR work to operational HR management topics. Topics relating to international HR work and the teaching of methodological skills such as mediation, coaching and consulting are also part of the curriculum.

    Study programme

    The consecutive Master's degree programme extends over three semesters. Lectures usually take place four days a week. Intensive supervision and interaction are important to those responsible for the programme. In addition to enthusiasm for the subject and a willingness to learn, students are expected to actively participate in group work and projects.

    Courses (face-to-face and online) are held weekly from Monday to Thursday in a centralised location in Augsburg. The programme is limited to 30 students.

    Admission requirements

    The admission requirements are

    • a completed bachelor's or diploma degree with a minimum grade of "good"
      .
    • Proof of sufficient work experience. This can be, for example, a completed vocational training programme, an internship semester or relevant practical work experience during the first degree course or following the first degree course.

    In an interview (oral aptitude test), motivation, goals for the degree programme, experience and knowledge in the field of HR management as well as the approach to questions from HR management practice are examined.

    Application and selection procedure

    The programme only starts in the winter semester. Application documents can be submitted from 2 May to 15 June of the respective year.

    Please note that a completed thesis paper must be submitted with the application. In each application period, you can choose from the current topics in the application and admission section of the degree programme description on the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences website (see link on the right). Please select a topic there and submit your completed thesis paper with your application.

    Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received. Those who apply by the end of May will receive an invitation to a personal interview in June if they fulfil the admission requirements. The 30-minute selection appointments will take place from mid-July via Zoom video conference. In the personal interview, you will be asked to give a short presentation on your chosen topic from the thesis paper.

    Applications and enrolment are handled by the Student and Examination Office at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. The application deadline is from 2 May to 15 June of the respective year.
