The building materials laboratory focuses on the investigation and characterisation of various materials used in the construction industry.
In particular, various mixtures of concrete, with and without reinforcement, are produced and used to cast test specimens.
The process is varied and documented in a controlled manner at all stages. This includes variation of grain sizes, mixing ratios, moisture, drying time, etc.
The finished samples are tested non-destructively and destructively and documented in the process.

Equipment:

  • Spreading table
  • vibrating table
  • Weighing systems
  • Drying kilns
  • Compulsory mixer
  • Water storage tank
  • Analysing sieve shaker
  • VEBE consistency meter
  • Pressure cylinder
  • Pycnometer
  • Air content tester
  • Sample cube moulds, cylinder moulds
  • Air conditioning units for storage
  • Compressive and flexural tensile strength testing system, also for fibre-reinforced concrete testing and modulus of elasticity testing
  • Specimen grinding machine
  • Cutting machine

Non-destructive measuring systems are available for measuring finished masonry and concrete:

  • Reinforcement search
  • Ultrasonic device
