A wide variety of tests can be carried out in the lightweight materials laboratory to characterise the material behaviour of new lightweight materials.
Equipment:
- Servo-hydraulic testing system for uniaxial tensile and compression tests at room temperature
- Tension/torsion testing system for generating biaxial stress states
- Various systems for high-temperature material testing:
- These include a creep testing machine that allows tests at temperatures of up to approx. 1000°C, a servo-hydraulic testing system that enables fatigue tests at temperatures of up to 1200°C in variable atmospheres (vacuum, air, various gases) a universal testing machine for various quasi-static test methods (tension, compression, bending) at temperatures of up to 1200°C.
- D-printer for metals using the powder bed process for the production of structures in various alloys. This is operated and financed as part of research tasks.
