Innovation through teaching: Diversity-sensitive violence protection concept developed for association

Students of the Faculty of Social Work perform application-oriented development work in seminar

In the seminar "Concepts for Diversity in Child and Youth Welfare", students of the master's program "Shaping Diversity" developed a diversity-sensitive violence protection concept for the homework help at Haus International e.V.. In the sense of a business game, the students defined targets that should be achieved in the homework help with the violence protection concept. In addition, they worked out concrete possible measures that could contribute to the achievement of the goals.

The concept with the recommendations of the seminar were presented to the management (Annelies Huber), the chairpersons (Véronica Hidálgo Sanchez, Marcelo Costa e Silva) as well as the head of the homework help (Kristna Kronschnabl) and the deputy head of the asylum social work (Dmytro Borodin) in Haus International e.V. in the context of a presentation on 26.06.2023 and discussed together. The background for the application-oriented course is that, in accordance with new legal regulations in the Child and Youth Strengthening Act (KJSG), youth welfare offices require a violence protection concept from all facilities in which young people spend several hours. The seminar was led by Prof. Dr. Mechthild Wolff.
