At a historic location, the Bundestag building in Bonn (as part of the WCCB), the focus of the "FH-Personal" symposium on 20 and 21 March 2025 was on staff recruitment at universities of applied sciences (UAS). Around 300 people from university management, HR departments, project managers as well as prospective and already appointed professors discussed the question of how universities of applied sciences can sustainably fill vacant professorships with people who are outstanding in research, teaching and transfer.
"LA-Proof" was represented several times: Landshut junior professor Prof Dr Judith Prantl from the field of business psychology gave an exciting contribution to the Science Slam on the topic of "Psychology - all talk?", in which she made an original transition from the external view of the profession of psychologist to the actual content and presented it in a pointed manner. In addition, Kirstin Osthoff, as project coordinator in cooperation with the universities of Münster, Ingolstadt and Hof, contributed a report on her experiences as part of one of the four breakout sessions in the session "Junior professorships - opportunities and organisational possibilities".
About the "LA-Proof" project:
"LA-Proof" is a project at Landshut University of Applied Sciences that has been funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts since January 2023. The aim is to recruit young professors. Candidates who are suitable in terms of teaching and subject matter but do not yet fulfil the necessary formal requirements for a professorship are qualified via junior professorships in professional practice or doctoral models and subsequently fulfil all the requirements for a HAW professorship. Since November 2024, six junior professorships have been filled at Landshut University of Applied Sciences. The project helps Landshut University of Applied Sciences to become better known as an employer and shows career options for a HAW professorship. It is supported by the following cooperation partners: BMW Group, Ihre Volksbank eG Neckar Odenwald Main Tauber, Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V., xpecto AG, University of Applied Arts Vienna.
