University elections are currently taking place today and tomorrow, June 13 and 14, respectively. These elections are not only important in general, as they are a basic building block of a democracy, but also of great importance for the students. The Student Council (STUV for short), as its name suggests, advocates for the students on the Landshut campus and addresses the needs of the students. Accordingly, the highest possible voter turnout plays a decisive role in giving the future representation significance by means of many votes.
Voting means: standing up for yourself and your fellow students
The students' point of view is the most current and important, as they represent the target group of the university. Only through a strong representation can their interests and concerns be successfully brought forward. The election allows students to decide for themselves who will represent them and their fellow students in the future. This also expresses values, goals and ideas for the university.
The importance of a high voter turnout should not be underestimated. After all, a high voter turnout strengthens the position of the student representation in all discussions and shows that the students stand behind the STUV. An active voter turnout signals a correspondingly strong student interest in the development of the university. Therefore, it is of great importance that as many students as possible cast their vote.
Simple and quick handling of the election
The election itself is simple and time-saving. Until tomorrow, 4:00 p.m., it is still possible to vote online. Voting is done electronically via the election portal of the provider POLYAS GmbH, which can be accessed via the university's SSO portal during the election period, June 13 from 9:00 a.m. until June 14 at 4:00 p.m.. Participation requires only a few clicks and takes only 5-10 minutes. Interested students can simply scroll to the bottom of the page in the SSO Portal to get to the polls.
STUV achievements: what wouldn't exist without it.
STUV has already implemented important changes and improvements at Landshut University in the past. Thanks to their initiative, for example, the reintroduction of the 24/7 Bib was made possible. In addition, student representatives have a say in the selection of professors in appointment procedures and in the distribution of funds within the faculty and university-wide. The STUV also serves as a point of contact for problems with faculty and advocates for the implementation of simple things like wifi expansion, foosball boxes, bike repair stations, and water fountains.
