Study programme
The "Primary Qualification in Midwifery (B.Sc.)" degree programme is a dual full-time course with 30 ECTS credits per semester. The standard period of study is 7 semesters and the programme concludes with 210 ECTS credits, a Bachelor of Science degree and the state examination for midwives.
The programme includes both theoretical and practical modules and takes place at three learning locations: At Landshut University of Applied Sciences, you will complete the theory modules with theoretical and practical courses. The practical phases of the programme take place in the responsible practice facilities. The third place of learning, the university's own skills lab, where practical exercises are carried out, serves as an interface between theory and practice.
The general studies programme is also integrated into the degree course. This comprises a total of 6 ECTS credits and can be taken in any semester. This time is supplemented by a high proportion of self-study time. The courses are taught in German. Most of the literature used is in English. One course in sign language is expected to be included in the programme.
Internship
Practical phase
A central element of your dual study programme in midwifery is the combination of theoretical knowledge with clinical practice. Each semester therefore begins with a coherent theory block followed by a practical block in a co-operating practice facility. In these practical phases, you can apply your theory-based knowledge directly and thus deepen your midwifery-specific skills.
As a rule, there are no overlaps between the theoretical and practical phases.
