Understanding diversity at Landshut University of Applied Sciences
We are sensitive and open to the fact that people are equal and different. This is expressed on a daily basis in our dealings with and among each other, which are characterised by mindfulness and appreciation. This involves being alert to disadvantages and discrimination and, if necessary, looking for ways to eliminate them.
Diversity includes gender, age, social background, cultural origin, religion/belief, chronic illness/disability (impairment), sexual orientation or family responsibilities (raising children, caring for relatives). These aspects are important to each and every one of us and have an impact in different ways. We therefore want to enable non-discriminatory educational opportunities.
We ensure that all members of the university can contribute their personal resources and abilities and develop personally. We also see diversity as an indispensable prerequisite for continuously improving the quality of our research and teaching. In this respect, we utilise diversity as a permanent opportunity to further develop the university.
An appreciative approach to diversity should be a matter of course at the university as a living and working environment. We are therefore prepared to regularly review the implementation of our understanding of diversity (e.g. through student surveys and staff surveys).
