Cell pack and electrical system test laboratory

In the cell pack test laboratory, the following are tested beyond the single cell

The cell network and, building on this, entire energy storage systems are also considered.

Overview

In the cell pack test laboratory, not only the individual cell but also the cell network and, building on this, entire energy storage systems are analysed. The main test processes are

  • Verification of the specified performance data
  • Determination of the usable capacity within the voltage limits
  • Charging and discharging behaviour at different C rates
  • Self-discharge (capacity maintenance and recovery) of battery packs (with and without BMS)
  • Self-consumption of battery packs and systems
  • Internal resistance measurementRac andRdc
  • Cycle tests
  • Temperature behaviour
  • Functionality of the interaction between battery and inverter
  • Functionality of the interaction between BMS and electrochemical storage system
  • Standby consumption of storage systems
  • Other measurements within the operating conditions
  • Standard charging methods such as CCCV, energy-controlled or customised profiles

The technologies analysed at system level include lithium-ion, sodium-ion and redox flow batteries. Hybrid systems are also currently the subject of research.

Equipment:

  • 1200 V 66 A DC source-sink
  • Climatic chamber accessible with pallet trolley
  • etc.
