Organisational concepts and personnel management

In the organisational concepts section, the competence module teaches the theoretical foundations of organisational theory and methodology and a basic understanding of the cross-sectional function of organisation in the company. In the personnel management part, the strategic fields of action of personnel management and their possible applications in the company are developed.

Organisational concepts

General systems theory is used as an introduction to gain basic knowledge of structures and processes. Building on this, practical examples are used to impart knowledge and skills in analysis and design methodology with regard to organisational development.

The design options and methods of organisational concepts can be used specifically for corporate objectives. This also includes special challenges such as digitalisation and restructuring.

These are listed in bullet points:

  • - The organisation as a socio-technical and open system
  • - Characteristics of the organisation
  • - Organisational structure by means of classical task analysis and synthesis for job creation
  • - Organisational structure and corporate structuring
  • - Choice of organisational form
  • - Process organisation by means of system analysis, planning, introduction and control
  • - Process characteristics, types and objectives
  • - Examination of the transferability of traditional design principles to the requirements of a modern organisation
  • - Business process management
  • - Project management and virtual organisation

Personnel management

The basics of HR management are taught using student presentations on selected topics. These include, for example, trends in personnel management, personnel and management development, international personnel management, recruiting, work-life balance, diversity and gender mainstreaming, compliance, ethics and corporate social responsibility and remuneration policy.

Students gain a deeper understanding of the new role of HR as a business partner of management and know which measures are used to fulfil this role. They define a self-image of the HR profession and are able to develop specific HR policy concepts in line with individual business conditions and the future requirements of the world of work.

The Human Resource Management competence module is a good basis for the Master's degree programme inHuman Resource Management. This programme is offered jointly by the universities of Augsburg, Kempten and Landshut.
