The generalist Master's degree programme Global Management provides students with the entrepreneurial knowledge and skills they need to take on management positions in internationally active companies in a globalized environment. It also focuses on project management skills, methodological competence and the ability to independently apply sophisticated scientific methods. The degree program consists of a combination of online and face-to-face phases in English. The German as a foreign language modules are compulsory. Students whose native language is German or whose German level is C 1 or C 2 choose another foreign language.

    The study programme / profile

    A key aspect of global management is to develop and implement business strategies that take into account both local and global market opportunities and trends. This requires a deep understanding of cultural differences and the competitive landscape in order to meet the needs of a networked, global community and to develop and utilise entrepreneurial competitive advantages. In globally active companies, global project teams are just as frequently active in all business fields. The focus of the degree programme is on the German and European market together with German and English as well as a further foreign language for students with a German language entry requirement.

    Specialization

    The Master's degree programme in Global Management prepares students for management and leadership positions as well as project management functions in internationally active companies in Germany and abroad. In addition to in-depth business knowledge, language skills in German and English, project management skills, methodological skills and the ability to independently apply sophisticated business methods, the globally oriented degree programme prepares students for strategy development, coordination and monitoring of business activities at a global level. The academic focus can be chosen individually during the course of the programme.

After completing this globally oriented degree programme, students will be able to use their sound business management expertise and acquired project management skills, methodological skills, the ability to independently apply sophisticated business methods and language skills to develop strategies, coordinate and monitor business activities on a global level.

    Requirement profile

    Successful completion of the Master's degree programme requires a basic knowledge of business administration and a corresponding interest in economic topics. Students must have a solid knowledge of English (C 1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). During the course of the programme, students acquire language skills in German as a foreign language and, if they have an entrance qualification from a German educational institution, another foreign language.

    Admission requirements

    The degree programme is admission-restricted. The application for admission (= application) is made online. All necessary application documents must be enclosed with the application.

    The admission requirements are

    • University degree from a domestic or foreign university in a business degree programme with at least 180 ECTS credits and an overall grade of "good" or better or a comparable domestic or foreign degree.
    • Graduates of an economics-related degree programme can be admitted upon application to the Examination Board. Admission requirements are successfully completed modules totalling at least 45 ECTS credits in the field of business administration.
    • Language skills in English corresponding to language level C 1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

      Note on English language skills: certificates are often issued at the home university that confirm the level achieved in accordance with the CEFR. Please enquire at your home university, as it is not uncommon for the level you have reached to be confirmed only on request. Proof can be provided by taking a TOEFL test or other test formats (Cambridge Certificate, IELTS, LCCI, TELC, TOEIC).

    Please note: The modules German as a Foreign Language (DaF) Level 1 and 2 are compulsory modules. Students who have obtained their study qualification and/or their admission requirements for the degree programme in a German educational institution or whose native language is German or who can prove German language skills of at least reference level C 1 or C 2 of the CEFR for languages must select another foreign language.
