The study programme / profile
Business, psychology, sustainability - three topics that are intertwined and interdependent in many ways. In the long term, the economy can only work if it is sustainable and focusses on people. Sustainability can only succeed if both business and people are involved. Psychology is only valuable if it asks itself what it can contribute to society.

Play PodcastSpecialisation options
After the foundation and specialisation semesters and the practical semester, students on the Bachelor's degree programme in Business Psychology & Sustainability Management take the specialisation in Business Psychology, which is firmly integrated into the degree programme, and choose a competence module as a further specialisation from the selection contained in the study and examination regulations.
Contents and course of study
The degree programme consists of six theoretical semesters and one practical semester. In the first year, students acquire the basic skills and necessary knowledge in the areas of psychology, economics and sustainability, which they will return to again and again later on. In the second year, the course content becomes more complex and even more practical. During the practical semester, students gain tangible experience in a company and a field of their choice. In the sixth and seventh semesters, students decide on two elective subjects and a competence module based on their theoretical and practical experience and specialise further in business psychology and the topic of their Bachelor's thesis, which correspond to their interests. The programme concludes in the seventh semester with a Bachelor's thesis.

The dual study programme is a practice-oriented form of study that combines theoretical course content at universities with professional practice in a company. Learn moreRequirement profile
Applicants for the Business Psychology & Sustainability Management degree programme should bring curiosity, the ability to work independently and the willingness to critically question their own and others' convictions. The courses are taught in German, but some of the literature is in English. The ability to understand an English text is therefore also necessary. Mathematics and statistics are also part of the programme. Applicants do not need to have any previous knowledge or an inclination in this direction, but we do require a willingness to engage with the topics. The ability to present clearly, write comprehensibly and think analytically is advantageous, but these skills are also developed during the course of the programme. The degree programme is admission-restricted.
Learn moreIt is important to distinguish whether you are applying for a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme. There is also a difference as to whether the Bachelor's degree programme is admission-free or admission-restricted (with NC). Further information on the application and admission procedure can be found here.
The university determines the number of places to be allocated for individual degree programmes. From the applications received for places on degree programmes with restricted admission, the best students from various groups (Abitur, Fachabitur, master's degree, second degree, etc.) are admitted according to a ranking list until the number of places to be allocated is reached. The NC (Nurmerus Clausus, average grade for admission) is calculated each year from the average grade of the last university place awarded. Experience shows that the NC fluctuates considerably from year to year when there are only a few study places to be allocated and cannot be predicted in advance of admission. It is therefore not the grade point average required for admission that is specified in advance, but the number of study places to be allocated.
