The Master's degree programme in Social Work: Clinical Social Work places great emphasis on a strong practical orientation. All course content is taught in an application-orientated manner - with an intensive practical focus and a high proportion of self-reflection and practical reflection.
In addition, during the second and third semesters, Master's students must complete at least four semester hours per week (= three working hours per week) of practical work in a relevant field of clinical social work as part of modules 2.1 and 3.1. In this work activity, students apply the study content they have learnt directly in practice and gain further practical professional experience, which is simultaneously reflected on professionally by linking it to a corresponding course (in particular reflection on their own case work).
This enables Master's students to carry out specialised clinical social work counselling and treatment independently during their studies.
The valid employment contract must be submitted together with the completed application form for authorisation of practical work during the course of study digitally to the Practice Department by the following deadlines at the latest:
Applications for the second semester (winter semester) | by 10 October at the latest |
Applications for the third semester (summer semester) | by 25 March at the latest |
The successful completion of the required minimum number of 45 hours per semester must be confirmed in writing by the employer. The confirmation must be submitted digitally to the Practice Department by the end of the respective examination period.
