Since the winter semester 2023/24, the two Bachelor's degree programmes "Social Work" and "Social Work in Child and Youth Welfare" at the Faculty of Social Work can also be completed in the dual study form with in-depth practice with independent study and examination regulations.
In addition to the lectures and seminars at the university, practical phases take place at a social work practice partner. The theoretical knowledge learnt at the university can therefore be directly applied and critically examined during the practical phase. Conversely, the experience gained in everyday working life helps students to better understand the content of seminars and lectures. This interlinking of theory and practice (TPV) is supported by a mandatory reflection seminar each semester and the exchange between dual students is encouraged.

In-depth practical phases during the degree programme
In addition to the practical semester, at least 900 practical hours must be completed with a practice partner in social work or child and youth welfare over the entire duration of the degree programme.
The practical hours are to be completed primarily during lecture and examination-free periods, but can also be completed during the lecture period in consultation with the practice partner, provided the lecture schedule permits this.
In total, no more than 20 hours per week may be contractually agreed between dual students and practice partners.
Certain quality criteria - similar to the practical semester - must also be met in the in-depth practical phases, including the area of social work and supervision by a social work specialist.
Information for dual practice partners with in-depth practice
Institutions and social work organisations become official practice partners by signing the cooperation agreement with Landshut University of Applied Sciences and agreeing to implement the faculty-specific guidelines of the Faculty of Social Work for the degree programme with in-depth practice.
In addition, an education contract is concluded between practice partners and dual students for the duration of the degree programme (3.5 years).
The practice partner must guarantee the necessary quality criteria for the practical semester.
The practice department and the practice partners work together to implement the degree programme with in-depth practice and support the students.
